Notes:

Remember, the Science Fair is on November 7th from 6-9. We will be scheduling parent teacher conferences for that night as well!

We are going Pumpkin Picking at Schmitt's Farm located in Melville NY on October 30, 2013. Make sure you return the permission slip if you haven't done so yet.

In Current Events, we enjoyed our weekly Flocabulary fix. Check out the lyrics

Another week finally comes to a close,
The news brought the headlines, we bring the flows.
With the Treasury on the verge of a meltdown,
Wednesday, Congress voted on the shutdown.
Yes they did, and the whole world was watching,
To see if the economic picture would darken.
Well, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded,
It went to the organization that thwarted
The further use of chemical weapons in Syria,
So hey OPCW, cheers to ya!
Heard about Malala? The courageous girl?
Who survived being shot and inspired the world?
Well, back home it ain’t all good, if you will,
Some Pakistani citizens are being very critical.
Guess haters gone hate—Oh—I should mention,
In ‘99 a cyclone did India in.
This time around, the government was on point,
And evacuated thousands, saved them from Phailin.
Which is the name of the cyclone that struck,
And hit the coast harder than a Mack truck.
Man, I bet it was loud, I wonder was it louder than
A stadium full of Kansas City Chiefs fans?
They broke the Guinness Record for loudest crowd,
137.5 decibels—WOW!
In South Dakota blizzards killed 80 thousand cattle,
Which means live stock prices shooting up and that’ll
Mean the cost of beef might be on the rise too,
All because a freak snowstorm came too soon.
In Brazil, protests are getting out of hand,
People marching in two cities, it’s getting crazy, fam.
All because teachers there are on a strike,
But yours aren't so you better treat them right!
