Does It Really Rain Diamonds On
Saturn and Jupiter? These Scientists Certainly Seem To Think So. We have heard of the occasional fish, tadpole and even spider
raining down from the skies, but diamonds? That is definitely a first!
Unfortunately, this miracle is not happening anywhere on earth but over
830 million miles (1.2 billion km) away, on Saturn and Jupiter.
At least that is what planetary scientists from NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab in Southern California seem to think after conducting extensive research, the results of which were presented at the 45th annual meeting of the Division of Planetary Scientists that was held in Denver, Colorado from October 6-11th, 2013.In Career Development, we talked about what it takes to be a broadcaster in sports. The broadcasting of sports events is the coverage of sports as a television program, on radio and other broadcasting media. It usually involves one or more sports commentators describing the events as they happen. -- Pizza Tomorrow! Bring Money if you want some! ($2 a slice) -- Don't forget Clubs tomorrow! |

Notes:
Today in class we read an article entitled African Lava Lake Naturally Mummifies Birds and Animals. With thousands of beautiful flamingos crowding around, at first glance Lake Natron, a salt lake in Northern Tanzania looks like your typical picturesque African landscape. But look closer and you will find something eerily unusual - Perfectly preserved dead animals strewn all along its shores. And while many have likened the lake to Medusa, the monster from Greek mythology who turned anyone that looked her in the eye to stone, most experts assert that the lake itself is not deadly.
In fact, the shallow three meters deep (9.8ft.) body of water supports a robust ecosystem that comprises of flamingos, algae and other salt loving invertebrates and even, two species of fish that thrive in the less salty outskirts. The researchers therefore believe that some of the petrified animals died from natural causes and others, because they got confused by the extremely reflective surface of the water and crashed right in.
The MLB World Series begins tonight! Although our local teams are not in it, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Boston Red Sox should put on a great show!
